Alberta Fishing Reports

With the production of the newest Riptide Super Striker the MINI-STRIKES we have launched into Alberta. For most of the winter while everyone was huddled into their warm houses, my son and his friends were taming the Brown, and Rainbow Trout of the famous Bow River which flows through Calgary Alberta. The New Super MINI-STRIKES in the one half ounce sizes were just what the fish wanted. On the very first cast my son Shane caught a 3.5 pound Brown Trout and the fun never stopped all winter. Everything in the Bow River just gobbled up the new lures, even the tiny mouthed whitefish loved the action of the MINI's.

My older son Shane Nastrom is a guide at Lake Minnewanka Boat Tours and will be updating the Alberta Report.

It is now spring and the bow is in freshet at last report, but fear not. The world famous Lake Minnewanka has started to produce fish. On the first day on the Lake Shane caught Lake Trout up to 15 lbs. (Stay tuned for more pictures from Wild Rose Country). He says that the Trout are just nuts for our Super Strikers in the 3 oz sizes and also the Needlefish in the 3 oz sizes. The best color is the Army Truck with the Glow Green a close second. The largest fish to date was 21 pounds and was caught vertically jigging an Army Truck Super Striker at 130 feet.

For the Trollers the Nuclear Spoons are just fantastic. Again the same colors are working. The spoons are fished on the down riggers, and are fished at a good clip. All the action on the lake seems to be around the 85-130 foot level. The fish seem to average in the 6-8 pound range.
